It's amazing what can be accomplished on sheer passion alone. A self-taught 21 year-old singer/songwriter, Carly Keyes picked up a guitar 2 years ago, and with it, found her purpose in life. At the young age of 20, she surrendered to the disease of addiction. Powerless over alcohol, drugs and various processes, one day at a time, she stays sober via a spiritual outlet: writing songs and singing about her struggles.
Through her music, her mission is to bring experience, strength and hope to listeners. Addiction is one monster with many heads and her goal is to connect with and relate to as many peers as possible. Whether you know her true pain or not, at some point you may have been affected by the agony of addiction and it's "cunning, baffling, powerful" affect on families and loved ones.
Take part in her recovery (or your own) by checking out her melodious stories of the dim past and the very bright future she seeks. She offers a mix of pop/acoustic/folk rock tunes rooted in the pain of her past, but in each story, lies growth, healing and ultimately, peace. We don't have to settle. We can break the chains off and live the life we deserve.
Her soulful vocals and style is often compared to a pop/rock version of Tracy Chapman, Natalie Merchant and Janis Joplin. Carly is currently recording her first professional album due out in the next year. The acoustic version of her first track is up online for streaming.
